What makes Dawn Matcha ceremonial-grade?
Dawn Matcha is made from early-harvest, shade-grown tea leaves sourced from Japan and stone-ground in small batches.
This process preserves flavor, color, and naturally occurring L-theanine for a smooth, balanced cup (never bitter).
Where is your matcha sourced?
Our matcha comes from Shizuoka, Japan — the largest tea-producing region in the country, and actually a UNESCO-recognized Globally Important Agricultural Heritage site. Our supplier has been operating for over 120 years and has won the Minister of Agriculture Award 16 times.
Is Dawn Matcha organic?
Future drops of our matcha may be certified organic, while our current batches prioritize farming practices and quality standards that go beyond organic certification. Japanese tea farming is highly regulated, and we source with intention over labels.
What quality tests have been completed on Dawn matcha?
Pesticide residues — tested by SGS Institut Fresenius, one of the most rigorous independent testing labs in the world. The result: zero pesticide residues detected across 600+ substances screened. Clean across the board. Microbiological — independently tested and came back with a low total plate count and negative for E. coli and Salmonella.
The tea itself is the Tsuyuhikari cultivar, grown using traditional Chagusaba farming methods (that’s the heritage system) — it’s a way of farming that naturally limits inputs and prioritizes soil health.
How should I prepare Dawn Matcha?
Using our Dawn Matcha Kit, whisk 1.5–2 teaspoons with about 1/4 cup of hot (not boiling) water until smooth and frothy. Enjoy on its own, or add your favorite milk for a latte. Dawn is designed for slow, intentional mornings.
Is Dawn safe to drink every day?
Yes. Matcha provides a more balanced form of caffeine thanks to its natural L-theanine content. Many people enjoy Dawn daily as a gentler alternative to coffee.
